Unciv Technology Tree

Give the next technology a job.

Open the technology tree with a concrete question: what would let this civilisation do something useful next? It may be a unit, a building or an improvement connected to the terrain nearby. Find that result first, then inspect the route that leads to it.

Trace the prerequisites

In the Gods & Kings data, Pottery leads to Writing, while Mining leads to Masonry. These are examples of dependencies, not a prescribed opening. Read the connectors in your current game and make sure the path you choose actually reaches the intended result.

Allow time to use the result

An unlocked option still needs a place in your plan. Consider the city that would produce it, the ground where it would matter and anything else it needs. Research that finishes just as you can use it has a clearer purpose than research selected only because it is available.

Revisit the destination

A new neighbour or a changed frontier can shift priorities. Pause at the next meaningful choice and ask whether the planned unlock still answers the most important problem. Keep the longer route visible without treating it as a promise you cannot revise.

A base ruleset mod may replace the technology tree itself. Use the tree and Civilopedia in the game you are playing when following a guide, especially if its examples come from another setup.
